I Challenged Myself To Drink More Water In A Week And The Results Are Amazing !

I recently stumbled across Huda's (Hudabeauty.com) blog post on doubling her water intake for a week and decided to take the challenge myself. I was intrigued by her results and wanted to see how my body would react to drinking more water daily. We all know that drinking water has its many benefits but it can be so hard to drink it sometimes. So, I thought that I would challenge myself for the week and drink mostly water with a few soft drinks or juices in between.

The Challenge

Drink about 3-3.5 liters of water a day. Side note: I do drink soft drinks almost every day (I know bad!!!!) but, I do limit myself to just one which I know isn't that great! But, I was hoping this challenge would help eliminate soft drinks in my daily routine. Continue reading to find out if it did help or not....

The Week

Day 1: I drank about 3 liters this day and surprisingly I wasn't running to the restroom every hour lol! But, at the end of the day I didn't notice any difference in my skin or weight. I did have one soft drink this day since I didn't want to quit cold turkey. 

Day 2: I once again drank about 3 liters of water this day and one soda. This was a 'cheat day' since I did eat pizza for lunch and had a slice of cake so, I wasn't surprised when I checked my skin and didn't notice much of a difference. My skin was a tad bit less red than normal though so, at least that was a bit of progress for me. 

Day 3: I had about 2.5 liters of water this day. I'll admit it was a bit harder to drink mostly water today BUT I did not crave nor drink any sodas this day! :D My skin and weight looked the same as day 2.

Side Note: I drank plain water I did not add any fruits nor drink mixes! But, I don't see why you couldn't especially if you're not a huge fan of plain water. I think adding fruits or lemon would give your body and skin more benefits! :)

Day 4: For some reason on this day I just couldn't get myself to drink a whole lot of water, or anything really! I don't know if my body was hydrated enough or what but I drank about 1.5 liters this day. 

Day 5: I drank about 3.5 liters this day. I kinda forced myself I guess you could say haha! But, I did start to notice my skin becoming less red and a bit smoother. I did get a little zit but nothing major! Honestly, I was expecting to get more since my body was going through a small detox.

Day 6: This day was tough! I had to use the restroom every hour on the hour. But, once again my skin had started to look more refreshed. I didn't even have any flakiness on my face. (I have oily skin but since its overly oily I do get flakiness.) 

Day 7: By this day I was so amazed at the results that I am now challenging myself to drink more water every day!

The Results

I thought this challenge was going to be a bit more difficult but, truly it wasn't. I didn't eat the best this past week but drinking a lot more water really suppressed my appetite, therefore, I ate less of everything and didn't snack as much. It may not seem like much but I lost 3 pounds! Remember, this was only from drinking more water, eating whatever I wanted, and minimal exercise like walking ( I exercised 4 out of the 7 days). When it comes to my skin: it was a lot less red than day 1, I had less texture, less acne spots, and some of my acne scars are starting to clear up. I am not challenging myself to keep drinking more and more water everyday.

Make Dry Shampoo More Effective

Use It At Night

Spraying dry shampoo at night will help soak up all of the excess oil leaving you with less greasy hair in the morning. The product will work through the night and when you wake up you can easily run your fingers through your hair and be on your way.

 

Use Your Fingers

Don't just spray and go. Really get in there with your fingertips and work the product in. By working the product into the scalp you will get more effectiveness.

Texture, Volume, Hold

Spray some throughout your hair for added texture. This technique works really well for that 'beachy' look.

Hold your fingers under the hair along your crown and mist some for added volume.

Just like using hairspray for this technique you can use dry shampoo to hold your bobby pins in place. Just spray your bobby pins before inserting into hair.

How To Apply

You want to apply dry shampoo in a more strategic way rather than just spraying and going on with your day/night. Take small sections and spray (holding the can at least 3 inches from the head) into your roots. By taking smaller sections you are sure to cover your whole head and making the dry shampoo more effective. Of course, I suggest using it at night for better results but, wait at least 2-3 minutes before brushing your hair and let the product sink in as much as possible! Also, try to do smaller spritz at a time rather than a constant spray. For some reason this technique helps the product come out of the can a lot better giving you more product with each spritz.

How To Get Rid Of Dry Lips

If you suffer from dry lips then you know how much of a struggle it is to get them moisturized and plump on a daily basis! So, today I am going to share some of my favorite tips on how to take care of your lips and possibly prevent chapped lips in the future! Don't forget to share some of your favorite tips with me in the comments :)

 

Sugar lip scrub

Literally, walk into your kitchen right now and grab some sugar, rub on your lips, and watch the dead skin flake off, then apply some coconut oil or a really thick lip balm treatment like bite beauty's agave lip mask. 

 

Brush it off

Grab an old toothbrush and massage your lips going in circular motion. This will remove all of the dry skin off your lips and plump them up by bringing blood to the surface.

 

Use a lip mask

Try to use a lip mask every night before going to bed. You can apply something like bite beauty's agave lip mask or some coconut oil, leave it overnight, wake up with soft lips! Or you can use something fun like The Face Shop Lip Gel Patch.

Use lip products with moisturizing factors

If you wear lipsticks on the daily then try using some with moisturizing factors like Revlon's Ultra HD Gel Lip Color Or use tinted lip balms like Dior's Color Reviver Balm. Try to avoid any old lip products as well. 

 

Avoid super hot showers

For some reason when I shower with hot water my lips tend to dry up. So, if thats the case with you then try to avoid super hot showers as possible! 

 

Stay Hydrated

We all should know this by now! Water is your body and skin's best friend so, drink it up yo! Drinking water will keep your body hydrated therefore keeping your lips plump!

 

Humidifier

Use a humidifier in your bedroom (or any room you spend a lot of time in) to keep the air moist and prevent dry lips and skin.
