Migraines! - A girl's worst enemy! If you have ever suffered from a migraine or know of anyone who has suffered from them then you know they are the absolute worse! There is truly no "right" or "wrong" way to cure a migraine it's by a trial and error basis. And, if you're like me and hate taking medicine then you'll want to try out anything to "naturally" relieve a migraine. So, that is why today I want to share with you several techniques to help relieve or get rid of migraine pains! What may work for some many not work for you so just remember to keep that in mind! 

 

1. Foods that help avoid and relieve migraines

Omega-3 rich foods such as nuts, seeds, fish help lower inflammation and control blood flow. Organic fruits and veggies are high in magnesium and electrolytes that also provide antioxidants that help decrease inflammation and help balance hormones. 

Magnesium rich foods, for example, spinach, almonds, avocado, and bananas are a great source to add to your daily food intake to try to avoid migraines. Taking a B vitamin (or eating B vitamin rich foods) is something to consider adding to your diet if you are wanting to avoid or help with migraine pains. 

Remember to avoid adding some of these food items to your diets because they can also be the cause of your migraine: sugars, refined grains, breads, caffeinated drinks, high amounts of sodium, fried foods, and fast foods.

 

2. Essential oils

I love to use essential oils as much as possible to avoid taking any prescribed or over the counter medications. The following are some of my favorites that have helped me relieve some migraine pains.

Peppermint oil - reduces pain and inflammation by having a cooling effect on the skin and can stimulate blood flow around the head when applied topically. 

Lavender oil - soothes stress and anxiety. Also, it can help improve your sleep and decrease muscle tension. I love to add some to my oil diffuser!

Frankincense - lowers inflammation and improves your hormone balance. 

 

 

3. Eye Pillow Mask 

If you're starting to get a migraine and don't want to fool around with essential oils or medicine then the sleep pillow mask is perfect. These sleep masks can be microwaved or put in the freezer depending on the effect you want it to give you. Warming the mask help with the blood flow and freezing the mask will help reduce inflammation. This is also effective because you won't be bothered by light and will feel relaxed enough to fall asleep.

4. Cold Water

Sometimes the smallest things can help relieve migraine pains so, this is where the cold water trick comes to play. Fill up a bowl with the coldest water possible (add ice cubes if you have them handy) and submerge your hands in the bowl for as long as you can. This works by "pulling" the blood from your head therefore relieving some or all of your headache. You could also put an ice pack or cold towel on your neck to help the process. 

 

5. Detox Baths 

Depending on what ingredients you use detox baths can be very benefiting in the following ways: flush toxins, reduce stress, improve sleep, relieve sore muscles, heal skin rashes, relieve headaches/migraines, and help treat colds. 

My favorite detox bath consists of 2 cups of epsom salt, about 10 drops of lavender oil, and 1 cup of baking soda. I love the calming effect the lavender oil gives while I lay in the water for about 30 minutes. I like to add a few drops of peppermint oil to the bath sometimes to give a cooling effect and help reduce inflammation. 

 

6. Salt and Lemon Water 

This method sounds crazy and I honestly didn't even want to try it myself but when I did I was amazed to how quickly it worked! Now, I don't know if this method works for a full blown migraine but I know it worked for me when I felt one coming. It's not the best tasting water but I promise if you get it cold enough and drink as quickly as possible it won't be so bad!

Take a glass of cold water (roughly 8 ounces), add a couple slices of lemon and about 2 tablespoons (yes 2!) of Himalayan salt. I am not 100% sure as to how this works but it worked for me within 10 minutes of drinking!

Today we're going to talk about how to deep clean your brushes for (basically) free! We've all seen the makeup brush cleaning mats, gloves, device, etc... But why spend money on a tool when you have one in your home already? This is where a container lid comes into play. (Yes, you read that right a container lid).

You see, the lid has grooves on it and it pretty much mimics the "grooves" on the cleaning mats, gloves, etc... All you need is some soap and you're good to go! Literally, just wet your brush, pour a bit of soap on the lid, then swipe your brush back and forth making sure the brush  head goes over the grooves on the lid, and then rinse off! No more unnecessary cleaning mats!

The best part about all of this is I'm sure you already have a container lid and soap at home so, it's basically like cleaning your brushes for free!

Affiliate marketing without a blog  

I use shopstyle collective and they allow me to pin products on Pinterest without having to share it on my blog. All I do is share the product and when someone clicks on it I get a small commission but when someone buys the product I get a small percentage of the sale. There are many companies out there that offer affiliate links but since shopstyle offers fashion and beauty (main topics on my blog) I tend to stick with them. Amazon is another great company to become an affiliate with because they offer almost everything!

I like to think of referral links as affiliate links because you're offering your input on something and when someone uses your referral link you get paid for it.  For example, Ebates is a company that offers referral links.

All of these are great ways to make money even while you sleep! Or even when you're traveling!! How great is that?! All you have to do is do a bit of research and find the companies you would like to work with and start promoting those links!

This method is also perfect for those who suffer from anxiety and stress. It will calm your body and mind down when you're under stress or in anxious moments. Of course, this won't put you to sleep unless you're lying down haha! But, seriously if you have a big test, speech, or new job coming up try to use this method beforehand to reduce anxiety.
